How do I know if my dryer vent needs cleaning?

Common signs include longer drying times, overheating, a burning smell, excess lint behind the dryer, or the dryer shutting off mid-cycle. These are indicators that airflow is restricted and the system may be unsafe.

How much does dryer vent cleaning cost on O'ahu?

Most residential dryer vent cleaning services on Oʻahu range from $189 to $349, depending on vent length, accessibility, lint buildup, roof access, and the overall condition of the dryer exhaust system. Every home is different, especially in Hawaiʻi where vent layouts and roof configurations can vary significantly.

Lint Worx begins every service with a $99 Code Compliance Inspection & Evaluation to assess airflow, identify blockages, and evaluate the overall condition of your dryer exhaust system. After the inspection, you’ll receive clear, upfront pricing before any additional work begins—no hidden fees or surprises.

Do you charge a service fee?

Yes. Lint Worx charges a $99 Code Compliance Inspection & Evaluation Fee for service visits requiring an assessment of your dryer exhaust system. This includes a professional inspection to evaluate airflow, identify potential blockages, assess system condition, and determine the safest and most effective solution for your home.

If additional services are recommended and approved, the $99 Inspection & Evaluation Fee will be credited toward the total cost of qualifying services.

This inspection-first approach allows Lint Worx to provide accurate findings, clear recommendations, and upfront pricing before any additional work begins.

What does your inspection include?

Lint Worx provides a comprehensive, code-compliance inspection designed to evaluate and measure airflow performance, identify blockages, and detect improper venting or potential safety concerns. Each inspection includes a professional camera scope to visually assess the interior condition of the dryer vent system.

See the Services section for more details.

How often should dryer vents be cleaned?

Most homes should have their dryer vent cleaned at least once a year. Homes with heavy usage or longer vent systems may require more frequent service.

Can clogged dryer vents cause fires?

Yes. Lint is highly flammable, and restricted airflow can cause heat buildup inside the dryer appliance system. Regular professional cleaning helps reduce this fire risk by removing lint buildup and restoring proper ventilation.

Can birds nesting in vents be dangerous?

Yes. Bird nests can completely block airflow, increasing fire risk. In addition, bird droppings may carry harmful fungi such as Histoplasma capsulatum, which can cause histoplasmosis—a lung infection that can be serious for certain individuals. Proper removal and cleaning help protect both your home and your health.

Can I clean my dryer vents myself?

Yes, some homeowners use DIY dryer vent cleaning kits to remove lint near the dryer opening. These tools can help with light surface buildup.

However, most dryer vent systems—especially in Hawaiʻi—are long or routed through walls and roofs, making full cleaning difficult. Improper use can also push lint deeper or damage the vent line.

For most homes, professional cleaning is the safest way to fully restore airflow and reduce fire risk.

Can you fix problems during the service?

Lint Worx performs minor repairs and maintenance, transition hose upgrades, and replacement of vent cover terminations. Lint Worx does not perform full dryer vent rerouting or major modifications to existing vent systems.

Call Lint Worx  today for questions or guidance regarding your dryer vent system.

How long does the service take?

We truly value your time and perform every job with Aloha. On average, a professional cleaning takes about 45 to 90 minutes. Larger homes or more complex venting systems may require additional time to ensure a thorough and proper service.

Lint Worx works efficiently while ensuring your home is safe and your schedule is respected.
